Marked by big explosions and even bigger robots than ever before, the Terminator series marked its successful return to the big screen last week with the release of Terminator Salvation. As an action filled summer blockbuster, the film succeeds admirably at creating a fun thrill ride that explores the dark future that’s only been hinted out in previous installments. By making a point to draw from rich and diverse mythology that has been established in the twenty plus years since the original Terminator’s release, the new film does a lot to honor the past even as it tries to build something new and exciting.

When I heard that Repo! The Genetic Opera was a “rock opera,” I was hoping that it would be something more along the lines of a live-action Savatage CD, which is to say that would contain memorable Broadway-style heavy metal music and an excellent story supported by unique visuals. Sadly, what I got was an hour and a half long serving of mediocrity, especially where the music is concerned.

May 15th, 2009 — Impressions, Videogames

Little Red Riding Hood’s Zombie BBQ is a very, very quirky game that turns the Fairytale world upside down, Zombies have invaded and are turning most of the fairytale folk into undead versions of themselves. Your characters for combating this menace are Little Red Riding Hood (who’s packing a machine gun and some major cleavage from the artwork /perv) and Momotaru a Ninja (who uses throwing stars).

Although Amazon sent my copy of volume two several weeks ago, I didn’t get a chance to sit down and read it until this past weekend. If anything, the story for volume two is even better then the first. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the art.
