Anyone who has read this site for any length of time knows by now that we here at Otakugaijin love all things zombie. Whether it’s books, games, comics or films, if it’s got zombies in it, we’re interested. If we’re lucky, we sometimes find a hidden gem of rotted goodness. Other times, though, we’re not so lucky and all we end up with is a fistful of putrid sadness. The film, Undead, definitely falls into the latter category.

I’ll be honest, I like watching movies with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. At his best, he’s that perfect eighties mix of macho action hero and comedic relief. Unfortunately, most of the movies he stars in do not show him at his best. Race to Witch Mountain is just such an example. It’s a terrible movie with terrible special effects and a terrible story.

According to an article posted on ICv2 this morning, AMC has purchased the rights to make a TV series based on the zombie comic book series, The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman. The series, which follows the day to day struggles of a small band of everyday people trying to stay alive in the wake of a zombie apocalypse, would be written, directed and produced by three time oscar winner, Frank Darabont.

No word yet on when casting or production will begin, but it’s safe to assume that zombie nerds like my wife and I are suitably stoked to see this project come to fruition. Despite the pedigree of the individuals involved in the project so far, I still have deep reservations concerning AMC’s potential handling of the dark, violent and extremely gory content that is prevalent through out the series.

Yes, it’s true. I was one of the lucky beta testers for the new Xbox experience update. The update promises expanded avatar options, full downloads of retail 360 games, an updated Netflix experience and several other nifty features. After spending a week checking out most of the options, I must say I’m happy overall with most of the upgrades.

Good Smile Company announced on Thursday that they will be releasing a Nendoroid of nyoro~n Churuya-san. The character appears in a series of mini-episodes that aired on YouTube after the end of The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and is obsessed with smoked cheese. The Nendoroid comes with several different faces and a several cheese themed props for a variety of posing possibilities.

The new figure will run 30,000 yen (roughly $35-40 depending on exchange rates) and will be released in December.
