Monster Island is a rather dark zombie novel that ditches the usual quasi-scientific causes for a zombie apocalypse in favor of a more supernatural themed story drenched in blood and gore. This is written well enough to distinguish itself from the hordes of similarly themed novels that currently line the shelves of bookstores everywhere, but it never rises above being anything other then average for a variety of reasons.
Sporting a 250 gig hard drive, two controllers, a “free” copy of the Modern Warfare 2 and a spiffy paint job, this limited edition 360 is the stuff wet dreams are made of. That is of course, if you just happen to have $399 just lying around and are looking to replace or upgrade your current console.

Considering the fact that I still listen to their Discovery album on a regular basis, I’m quite excited by this news. With that said, I would like to send a heartfelt message to Activision that the non-stop news whoring about their involvement in the DJ Hero project has really got to stop. Seriously, guys, I realize you’re excited to be working two of the most awesome mixmasters in the business. In fact, I know how awe inspiring is must be to be rubbing shoulders with two people who are so amazing, that they even got the legendary Leiji Matsumoto to make a full length animated feature film
based around one of their albums, but it’s gotten to the point where I can’t even go take a dump without getting a five tweets, an RSS feed and a couple of emails about them while I’m gone. Look, I’m happy too, but if you could just take the excitement down a notch, that would be great. Thanks.
According the press release I received on Friday, the demo that’s was released on Friday is actually the first of two such demos for the game. Dubbed a “speed RPG” by XSEED, Half-Minute Hero promises traditional RPG gameplay at a highly accelerated pace via a serious of challenges that must be completed in thirty seconds or less. Replete with retro graphics and a heavy metal soundtrack, Half-Minute Hero promises to be a brutally hectic gameplay experience in October.
Although, the game sounds interesting and very reminiscent of games like WarioWare, I cannot help but snicker every time I hear the title. Seriously, was it really necessary to call the game Half-Minute Hero? I’m sorry, but that sounds more like something wife or girlfriend calls you after you’ve just disappointed her sexually for the thirtieth time in the bedroom. Forget minuteman, XSEED as just given otaku everywhere a brand new term for men who are complete sexual failures. =^_^;;=
Anyway, all joking aside, feel free to check out the original press release after the jump for more info about the game.
I must say that Mutant Chronicles actually turned out to be better than I had originally expected. It’s always a pleasant surprise when this type of movie manages to rise above the rather low bar I set for it. With a likeable cast of second and third tier actors and an interesting retro design aesthetic that permeates every scene, I just couldn’t help having more fun with this movie then I had originally intended to have…even if the heavy use of CG and less than stellar storyline made it feel like a violent Looney Tunes episode at times.
