3D Dot Game Heroes Announced for Release in 2010

Atlus announced yesterday that it will be releasing 3D Dot Game Heroes for the PS3 in May of 2010. Judging from the trailer for it, this action RPG game from development company “From Software” appears to have one of the most unique design aesthetics to come down the pike in a long time. The game utilizes a blocky retro 8-bit style reminiscent of the early days of gaming while at the sametime bringing dressing up those same dated designs by rendering them in a fully realized 3D world. It’s like a LEGO fan’s wet dream come to life.

3D Dot Game Heroes will retail for $39.99 and is currently scheduled for release on May 11, 2010. 3D Dot Game Heroes is already available for pre-order at Gamestop

You know, as much as I love old games and Legos, I just can’t get excited about this one.

I was dubious at first as well until I saw the video. Graphics really neat and considering it’s going to be at the cheaper price point of $40, but I planning on giving it a try.

Looks interesting, but not necessarily my thing. Shame too, but the title sounded awesome :P
