BioWare has announced that they have had to delay their planned release of the “Return to Ostagar” DLC today and by announced, I mean that they made a post on their community forum and hoped no one would notice. No reason has been given for the delay and no new date has been announced. Boo!

In related news, BioWare has also so announced that a new Dragon Age expansion pack, titled “Awakenings,” will be seeing a release to retail stores in the coming months. Preorder information is already available at Gamestop for the retail pack as well as various details concerning new additions to the game and plot line info. The March 16 release date is considered unconfirmed at this time.

For those who are interested, Joystiq has posted a copy of the trailer for the new expansion pack. The trailer does contain spoilers for those who haven’t completed the original game’s main storyline yet. You have been warned.

Although I am excited about the new expansion, I must say I’m deeply concerned about the lack of any info pertaining to the expansions estimated length. In light of “Awakenings” forty-dollar price tag, I find this to be rather unsettling and will most likely hold off making any plans to purchase it until more details are released. Call me cheap if you want, but the original Dragon Age game costs sixty dollars brand new and I’ve gotten nearly eighty hours out of it so far on just my first run through. With that in mind, I think it’s fair to say that my expectations for the new expansion pack are rather high when it comes with a price tag that’s only twenty dollars less than a completely new game.
